AtBridgwater College Academy, effective safeguarding extends beyond processes andprocedures. It is about building strong relationships with children, familiesand staff, identifying concerns early and ensuring that support is deliveredeffectively. The successful candidate will work closely with the TrustSafeguarding Lead, academy leaders, pastoral teams and external agencies toensure safeguarding practice remains robust, responsive and child-centred. This is a role within a large all-through academy and forms part of a wider safeguarding team. This role will act as Designated Safeguarding Lead for the Primary Phase with 560 pupils on roll. Weare seeking a committed and highly effective Deputy Safeguarding Lead toprovide operational leadership for safeguarding and child protection across thePrimary Phase (including online safety). Thesuccessful candidate will lead on day-to-day safeguarding operations, ensuringtimely, appropriate and high-quality responses to concerns. This will includeresponsibility for safeguarding records, chronologies, case management anddecision-making. You will deputise for the academy DSL when required, representthe academy at multi-agency forums as required, and contribute to multi-agencyworking to secure the best outcomes for children. This role offers genuineleadership responsibility and the opportunity to influence safeguardingstrategy across the primary phase. Thepostholder will be expected to challenge practice, elevate concerns wherenecessary and influence decision-making in the best interests of children. Youwill also play a key role in supporting and advising staff, promoting a strongsafeguarding culture, and ensuring all processes align with statutory guidanceand best practice. Thesuccessful candidate will demonstrate: * A strongcommitment to safeguarding and child protection, with the ability to actdecisively to secure the best outcomes for pupils, alongside a clearexpectation that the postholder will challenge practice, elevate concerns where necessary, and influence decision-making in the best interests of children. * Provenexperience in a safeguarding, pastoral or child protection role, ideally withinan educational setting. * A secureunderstanding of statutory safeguarding guidance (including KCSIE) and theconfidence to apply this in practice. * The abilityto manage complex and sensitive cases with professionalism, resilience anddiscretion. * Stronginterpersonal skills, enabling them to build effective relationships withpupils, families, staff and external agencies * High levelsof organisation and attention to detail, with a commitment to accurate andtimely record-keeping * Theconfidence to support, challenge and advise colleagues to ensure consistentlystrong safeguarding practice across the school and elevate concerns appropriately where required * Areflective, resilient and values-driven approach, with a relentless focus onimproving outcomes for vulnerable children * DesignatedSafeguarding Lead (DSL) training, or a willingness to undertake DSL trainingimmediately upon appointment This role would particularly suit someone who ismotivated by the opportunity to contribute to meaningful change and play a keyrole in strengthening safeguarding within a supportive and ambitious team #J-18808-Ljbffr
