About Us: Bridgnorth is an historic market town on the banks of the River Severn. The town currently has a population of 12,000 and acts as a centre for the rural area of eastern Shropshire. It has strong links with the nearby West Midlands conurbation and is a popular leisure destination. It is likely that there will be significant population growth in the wider area over the next decade.

We are looking for Customer Service / Administration/ Communications Apprentices to support the delivery of excellent customer service, communications and administrative support across the Town Council whilst undertaking a recognised apprenticeship programme.

Some main duties of the role include:

  • Provide a friendly, professional and welcoming first point of contact for residents, visitors, councillors, community groups and partner organisations.
  • Respond to enquiries received in person, by telephone, email, online and through social media, resolving them where possible or signposting/referring them appropriately.
  • Assist in creating, updating and publishing content for the Council’s website, newsletters, social media platforms and other communication channels.
  • Provide general administrative support, including filing, scanning, photocopying, document management, correspondence and maintaining records, databases and spreadsheets.
  • Participate fully in the apprenticeship programme, including attending training, workshops and mentoring meetings as required.
  • Comply with the Council’s Standing Orders, Financial Regulations, policies, procedures, health and safety requirements, data protection legislation and confidentiality obligations.

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • GCSE Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics, or willingness to achieve these as part of the apprenticeship.
  • Eligible to undertake an apprenticeship programme.
  • Interest in customer service, communications, administration or local government.
