The purpose of the role is managing and optimizing the procurement of aluminium for the company. The role will report to the production planning manager and will also assist the production planning team to meet on time delivery of orders. This position requires an experienced and proactive professional who can manage supplier relationships including audits, oversee transportation logistics, ensure adherence to quality standards, and lead process improvement initiatives and KPIs. The role also includes strategic responsibilities such as hedging aluminium in SAP, liaising with finance, and maintaining comprehensive data records for all metal purchases. The successful candidate will contribute significantly to the efficiency and profitability of the company\’s operations. Qualifications Essential to the role * 5 GCSEs Grade A-C – English Language and Maths essential * Proven experience as a Buyer, in supplier and LSP relationship management and contract negotiation. * Strong negotiation and communication skills * Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite * At least 5 years of experience in a procurement or supply chain role, preferably in the metals industry. * Demonstrated ability to manage complex logistics and transportation processes. * Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems, particularly in hedging or financial risk management. Desirable * Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. * Professional certifications in procurement or supply chain management (e.g., CIPS, CPSM) are a plus. Skills * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders. * Proficiency in data management and reporting tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI). * Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities. * Knowledge of quality standards and claims management processes in a manufacturing or industrial setting. * Ability to travel frequently within the UK to visit suppliers and attend industry events.
