Duties / Responsibilities Maintenance Duties & Responsibilities * Provide technical support for meeting the operational equipment reliability level for the area of responsibility. * Trouble shoot and resolve technical problems/issues in order to get assets back in running condition aiming at minimising disruption and cost. * Responsible for maintenance or emergency repairs/inspections; ensure all documentation is delivered and recommendations or actions are followed up through to completion. * Investigate and resolve all Hydraulic, Pneumatic and Mechanical related issues in the area of responsibility. * Monitor departmental daily check list data to identify key asset and sub-asset parameters that are of concern and propose corrective actions/measures. * Contribute in the evaluation of conceptual engineering plans; review the designs and plans according to required specifications. * Assist in conducting chronic and recurring Failure Elimination/Root Cause Analysis (RCA) studies as required; help implement, track and report the corrective actions with respect to its effectiveness in eliminating the problem(s). * Help identify equipment critical spare parts; determine optimum quantity required on site (stores) and raise stock request forms. * Propose CAPEX projects to improve equipment availability and resolve recurring problems; assist in projects review, supervision and implementation. * Contribute in the consolidation of the maintenance budget and forecast process. * Liaise with suppliers and contractors to organise emergency or planned repairs of assets/equipment in-house/in-situ or externally. * Oversee the mechanical technicians’ operation of the workshop equipment. * Responsible for looking after the workshop area, its equipment and current as well as future needs with respect to fulfilling the duties and responsibilities of the mechanical maintenance role. Leadership, Training & Coaching * Provide on-site and hands-on training and guidance to mechanical technicians and apprentices for the execution of mechanical maintenance tasks, jobs, and processes. * Regularly review and assess the mechanical technician’s skills on the job and identify opportunities for improving their knowledge/skills to perform their daily tasks safely, reliably, and productively. * Monitor the training needs of mechanical technicians ensuring their knowledge in the application of maintenance best practices. Essential Qualifications * HNC/HND or equivalent (e.g. NVQ/BTEC level 4) in Mechanical Engineering or relevant Engineering subject. * 3-5 years of engineering experience in a similar position, field, or industry. * Working knowledge of relevant engineering principles and practices demonstrated in a relevant industry in engineering and maintenance or reliability fields. * Good working knowledge of engineering procedures and systems to fulfil the Maintenance Duties & Responsibilities. * Ability to accurately compile, interpret and use data and other information to address engineering problems. * Knowledgeable in the area of equipment lubricants and lubrication techniques. * Computer proficiency including but not limited to MS Office software. * Ability to read and understand technical writing and specification. * Ability to read, understand and interpret mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic drawings/diagrams. * Experienced in the area of parts fabrication (e.g. machining, welding, turning, etc).
