Responsibilities
- Managing and operating the Avery Weighman systems to accurately measure and record weights
- Identifying and addressing potential issues in the weighing process
- Conducting regular inspections and maintenance of weighbridge equipment
- Ensuring compliance with weight regulations and industry standards
- Collaborating with truck drivers and logistics teams to facilitate Goods in and despatch process
- Record vehicle weights, driver details including passports for despatch and load information and issuing weighbridge tickets.
- Measuring and recording weights of incoming and outgoing materials or goods
- Participating in safety protocols and staying informed about weighbridge operations.
- Booking in and out dross, skips and environmental deliveries
- Ensure all visiting drivers are fully aware of the site safety rules, including speed limit, PPE and platform use
- Participate in all HS meetings, SQCDP, quality meetings and in the Material Handling department and comply with departmental rules.
- Be trained on the FLT and all Logistical operational duties up to Senior operator level
- Complete accurately FLT (Forklift Truck) checklists, and ensure safe operational practices are followed.
- Act as a gatekeeper to ensure all goods are booked in accurately and paperwork is completed correctly, and slabs are labelled correctly prior to arriving on the yard
Qualifications
- Experience in logistics, material handling, or warehouse coordination within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety practices and environmental compliance.
- Good understanding of inventory management and stock control systems.
- Proven ability to work as part of a team.
- Requires wearing PPE and adherence to all site safety regulations
- Attention to detail with strong organizational and communication skills.
- Competence with relevant IT systems (e.g., Avery weighman, BAops etc.).
- Understand the role is gatehouse based with additional support to Material Handling on weekends.
