Working within the mechanical team to maintain all plant machinery including both proactive planned maintenance and breakdown repair.
General Duties & Responsibilities
- Safely applying specialist craft skills for the assembly, dismantling, inspection repair and testing of mechanical equipment.
- Reading and understanding construction drawings, designs and system schematics to assess equipment, or systems performance and evaluate the cause of any malfunction. Effect necessary repairs and adjustments.
- Carrying out breakdown and planned maintenance tasks.
- Receiving Instructions from the Mechanical Maintenance Manager, Reliability Engineer, Reliability Technician, or from planned lists/MTAS to undertake project and maintenance work on the shift in conjunction with fitters and other operations/engineering personnel.
- Supporting a reliability centred maintenance approach to identifying and undertaking maintenance tasks on major process assets.
- Ensuring product quality by managing throughput issues in the execution of maintenance and improvement works.
- Reporting works completed on the site CMMS systems.
- Responding to site emergencies to recover/restore production in a timely manner.
- Assisting in the training and development of other members of the team and apprentices.
Essential to the role
- Essential - Time Served Apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering NVQ level 3.
- A grounding in mechanical engineering ideally gained through a formal apprenticeship.
- Established skills in general fitting, welding, machining, construction, installation and maintenance techniques.
- Knowledge of the use of precision measurement equipment and instrumentation.
- An understanding of the use of hydraulics systems.
- An understanding of codes and symbols used in drawings for mechanical and hydraulic schemes.
- Computer literacy (ideally conversant in the use of CMMS) and basic office software.
- LOTOTO.
- Good working knowledge of plant and machinery with the area of responsibility to include overhead cranes.
Working Hours:
4 Vacancies available. Two for Mon - Fri, two for 4 on / 4 off. Shift allowance only applicable for 4 on / 4 off shift. 4 on / 4 off (2 Days / 2 Nights - 12 hour shifts. 6am-6pm / 6pm-6am) Mon - Fri (42 hours - 8am - 4:30pm).
