The predicted salary is between 30000 - 40000 £ per year.

Working within the mechanical team to maintain all plant machinery including both proactive planned maintenance and breakdown repair.

Working Hours: Mon - Fri (42 hours - 8am - 4:30pm)

Responsibilities:

  • Safely applying specialist craft skills for the assembly, dismantling, inspection, repair and testing of mechanical equipment.
  • Reading and understanding construction drawings, designs and system schematics to assess equipment or systems performance and evaluate the cause of any malfunction.
  • Effecting necessary repairs and adjustments.
  • Carrying out breakdown and planned maintenance tasks.
  • Receiving instructions from the Mechanical Maintenance Manager, Reliability Engineer, Reliability Technician, or from planned lists/MTAS to undertake project and maintenance work on the shift in conjunction with fitters and other operations/engineering personnel.
  • Supporting a reliability centred maintenance approach to identifying and undertaking maintenance tasks on major process assets.
  • Ensuring product quality by managing throughput issues in the execution of maintenance and improvement works.
  • Reporting works completed on the site CMMS systems.
  • Responding to site emergencies to recover/restore production in a timely manner.
  • Assisting in the training and development of other members of the team and apprentices.

Requirements:

  • Essential – Time Served Apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering NVQ level 3.
  • A grounding in mechanical engineering ideally gained through a formal apprenticeship.
  • Established skills in general fitting, welding, machining, construction, installation and maintenance techniques.
  • Knowledge of the use of precision measurement equipment and instrumentation.
  • An understanding of the use of hydraulics systems.
  • An understanding of codes and symbols used in drawings for mechanical and hydraulic schemes.
  • Computer literacy (ideally conversant in the use of CMMS) and basic office software.
  • Good working knowledge of plant and machinery with the area of responsibility to include overhead cranes.
