Responsibilities
- Identify and evaluate suppliers to ensure quality and reliability.
- Negotiate favourable contracts, terms and prices with suppliers.
- Provide commercial support to the Contract manager.
- Manage the full procurement process from end to end.
- Take full ownership leading contracts and categories you are assigned.
- Manage contracts efficiently and strategically β lead commercial discussions, contract processes, and conduct regular reviews.
- Lead categories by understanding requests, targeting the correct supplier selectively by identifying which suppliers can fulfil which type of requests, and ensure proper ownership of enquiries β no delegation to engineers of procurement tasks.
- Conduct due diligence with suppliers before engagement - including verifying capabilities, compliance and performance history.
- Ensure all deadlines are consistently met, including RFP/RFQ stages and out of contract situations are avoided.
Requirements
- 5 GCSEs Grade A-C β English Language and Maths essential.
- Strong proven experience as a Buyer.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Experienced with ERP systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experienced with supplier management and relationship building.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Strong commercial knowledge and contract management.
- Strong understanding of legal compliance, and experience of reviewing, checking and understanding contracts/terms.
