A leading electrical products distributor is looking to recruit an Inventory Controller to join its flagship Avonmouth operation. The Opportunity
As an Inventory Controller, you'll play a key role in managing stock levels and purchasing activity across a large and diverse product portfolio. Working closely with suppliers and internal teams, you'll ensure the right products are available at the right time whilst optimising inventory investment and maximising stock turnover. This is a commercially focused position that would suit someone who is confident, analytical and capable of building strong relationships with suppliers. You'll have the opportunity to influence purchasing decisions, support promotional activity and help drive the continued growth of the business.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building and maintaining strong supplier relationships
- Negotiating with suppliers to achieve the best commercial outcomes
- Managing inventory levels across a large product range
- Monitoring stock turnover, inventory investment and purchasing performance
- Analysing sales trends, buying patterns and demand forecasts
- Placing and managing high-volume purchase orders
- Supporting promotional campaigns and product initiatives
- Producing reports and analysing data using Excel
- Identifying opportunities to improve stock availability and inventory efficiency

Requirements
To be successful in this Inventory Controller role, you should have:
- Experience within purchasing, inventory control, stock management or a similar commercial role, or experience within the electrical wholesale sector with strong product knowledge
- A good understanding of stock turnover, inventory investment, purchasing trends and demand planning
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and identify trends
- Confidence when negotiating and building relationships with suppliers and colleagues
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- A proactive approach and the confidence to take ownership of a newly created role
- The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced commercial environment
