Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Geologist to join a growing, multidisciplinary engineering and consultancy team delivering projects across critical infrastructure sectors including rail, utilities, nuclear, data centres and transport. In this role, you will play a key part in leading geological input on a range of complex projects, providing expert interpretation of ground conditions and supporting design, risk assessment and decision‑making across multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the planning, execution and interpretation of site investigations, including boreholes, trial pits and subsurface data collection.
- Analyse geological, geotechnical and environmental datasets to develop robust ground models and assessments.
- Provide geological input to feasibility studies, risk assessments, foundation design and ground condition reports.
- Produce high‑quality technical outputs including logs, maps, figures and reports for clients and project teams.
- Work closely with civil, structural, MEP and survey teams to integrate geological understanding into project delivery.
- Mentor and support junior geologists and graduates, contributing to their technical development.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, health and safety requirements and best practice.
- Liaise with clients, contractors and stakeholders on geological matters and recommendations.
- Degree (BSc or MSc) in Geology, Applied Geoscience, Engineering Geology or a related discipline.
- Typically 5-10+ years' experience in geological site investigation and interpretation within infrastructure or engineering projects.
- Strong understanding of UK geology, ground conditions and subsurface processes.
- Experience in geological logging, mapping and interpretation; familiarity with GIS or ground modelling tools is advantageous.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong technical report writing ability.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.
