An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Principal Geologist to join a well-established infrastructure consultancy. This permanent role sits within the Infrastructure Division and plays a key part in the successful delivery of complex ground investigation projects. You will provide technical leadership, oversee field operations, and mentor a team of engineers, contributing to both project excellence and business growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage multiple ground investigation projects, ensuring delivery to programme, budget, and quality standards.
- Act as Technical Manager on large-scale ground investigation projects, both on land and overwater.
- Supervise in-field works, including soil and rock logging in accordance with relevant industry standards.
- Oversee in-situ testing and sampling activities, ensuring compliance with project specifications.
- Promote accurate data collection and recording, providing constructive feedback to team members.
- Review, check, and issue factual reports, interpretative reports, and AGS data to clients.
- Provide technical support to project teams and contribute to continuous improvement in delivery standards.
- Mentor and support the technical and professional development of engineers and junior staff.
Skills & Experience
- Strong technical knowledge of a wide range of ground investigation techniques.
- Proven experience managing and supervising ground investigation projects.
- Confident in providing technical leadership and guidance to multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience checking reports, borehole records, and data deliverables.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with clients and internal teams.
Qualifications
- Degree in Geology, Engineering Geology, or a related discipline.
- Chartered status (or working towards) with a relevant professional body is desirable.
