Job Description The Opportunity \n \n An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Geo-Environmental Engineer to join a well-established environmental and geotechnical consultancy based in Manchester. \n \n We are seeking a candidate with a minimum of 5 years' UK geo-environmental project experience who is confident managing site investigations, preparing technical reports and supporting projects from initial assessment through to remediation and validation.\n \n The successful candidate will work across a varied portfolio of residential, commercial, industrial and development-led projects, taking responsibility for project delivery, technical reporting, client liaison and support of junior team members.\n \n This role would suit a technically capable geo-environmental professional who is ready to take on greater project responsibility within a supportive consultancy environment.\n \n About the Consultancy\n \n The employer is an established environmental and geotechnical consultancy providing specialist advice across contaminated land, ground investigation, geotechnical engineering and environmental risk.\n \n The business supports clients through the full project lifecycle, from early-stage due diligence and desk studies through to intrusive investigation, risk assessment, remediation strategy, validation and project completion.\n \n The consultancy offers a practical and technically focused working environment, with opportunities to develop across both site-based and office-based project delivery.\n \n The Role\n \n As Senior Geo-Environmental Engineer, the successful candidate will manage and deliver geo-environmental projects involving desk studies, site investigation, environmental sampling, risk assessment, reporting and remediation support.\n \n The role will include both technical delivery and project coordination, with regular liaison between clients, subcontractors, laboratories, regulators and internal project teams.\n \nYou will have project experience, report-writing ability and the confidence to manage multiple projects to programme, budget and quality standards.\n \n Key Responsibilities Project Delivery\n \n \n Manage and deliver geo-environmental and contaminated land projects \n Support projects from initial enquiry through to completion \n Prepare project scopes, programmes and technical delivery plans \n Coordinate site works, subcontractors, laboratories and internal resources \n Monitor project progress, deadlines, budgets and deliverables \n Maintain clear communication with clients and project teams \n Ensure work is delivered safely, accurately and commercially \n Support the successful delivery of projects across a varied UK portfolio \n Site Investigation and Fieldwork\n \n \n Plan and supervise Phase 2 ground investigations \n Oversee intrusive investigation works including trial pits, window sampling and boreholes \n Undertake soil, groundwater, surface water and ground-gas sampling \n Prepare accurate site records, logs and monitoring data \n Coordinate laboratory testing schedules \n Review site investigation outputs and identify technical concerns \n Liaise with drilling teams, contractors, laboratories and project managers \n Ensure fieldwork is completed in accordance with project specifications and health and safety requirements \n Geo-Environmental Reporting\n \n \n Prepare Phase 1 desk studies and preliminary risk assessments \n Prepare Phase 2 ground investigation and geo-environmental assessment reports \n Develop conceptual site models \n Interpret soil, groundwater, gas and environmental laboratory data \n Undertake contaminated land risk assessments \n Support human health, controlled waters and ground-gas risk assessment work \n Prepare clear technical conclusions and practical recommendations \n Ensure reports are accurate, commercially focused and issued to agreed deadlines \n Remediation and Validation\n \n \n Support the preparation of remediation strategies \n Assist with verification and validation reporting \n Provide technical input during remediation and construction-stage works \n Liaise with contractors, clients and regulators where required \n Support planning-condition discharge and environmental compliance requirements \n Help clients manage environmental risks in a practical and cost-effective way \n Client and Stakeholder Liaison\n \n \n Act as a key point of contact for clients on assigned projects \n Attend project meetings, site meetings and technical discussions \n Liaise with local authorities, regulators, contractors and consultants \n Communicate technical findings clearly and professionally \n Support strong client relationships through reliable project delivery \n Identify opportunities to provide additional technical support where appropriate \n Team Support and Mentoring\n \n \n Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and consultants \n Review site records, data and draft reporting where required \n Support th
