An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Structural Engineer to join a growing multidisciplinary engineering consultancy based in West Yorkshire. You will apply your technical expertise across a varied portfolio of commercial and residential developments, using industry-leading design and analysis software to deliver practical, efficient and sustainable structural solutions. As a Structural Engineer, you will contribute to the design and successful delivery of structural engineering projects across the residential and commercial sectors. You will work closely with civil and geo-environmental colleagues, architects, contractors and clients to develop coordinated structural solutions that meet technical, commercial and programme requirements. The position will also provide opportunities to support junior engineers, strengthen client relationships and contribute to the continued growth of the structural engineering team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop practical, cost-effective and sustainable structural design solutions
  • Undertake structural analysis and design for commercial and residential developments
  • Design structures using steel, reinforced concrete, timber and masonry
  • Prepare calculations, technical reports, specifications and design documentation
  • Produce and review structural designs using Tekla Structural Designer and other industry software
  • Coordinate structural designs with architects, contractors and multidisciplinary engineering teams
  • Attend client, design team and site meetings where required
  • Provide technical advice throughout the design and construction process
  • Review project information and ensure designs comply with current standards and legislation
  • Monitor project deadlines and deliver technical outputs to the required quality
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with clients and project stakeholders
  • Mentor and provide technical support to graduate and junior engineers

About You

You will be a capable and motivated Structural Engineer with experience delivering residential and commercial building projects within a UK consultancy environment. You will have strong analytical and design skills, together with the confidence to manage your own workload, communicate technical information clearly and work collaboratively with clients and wider project teams.

Essential Requirements

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related discipline
  • Approximately 3-5 years' relevant structural engineering experience
  • Strong background in residential and commercial structural design
  • Experience designing in steel, concrete, timber and masonry
  • Proficiency using structural design and analysis software
  • Good understanding of the Eurocodes and relevant UK design standards
  • Awareness of the requirements of the Building Safety Act 2022
  • Ability to prepare clear calculations, reports and technical documentation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to liaise confidently with clients, architects, contractors and other stakeholders

Preferred Experience

  • Experience using Tekla Structural Designer
  • Knowledge of MasterSeries, Autodesk Robot or comparable structural software
  • Previous experience mentoring junior or graduate engineers
  • Experience coordinating structural input across multidisciplinary projects
  • Chartered or actively working towards professional qualification with the IStructE or ICE
  • Strong commercial awareness and project delivery skills
  • Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development
