Bridgestone Group are recruiting for a Principal Electrical Engineer to join our client based in Swansea on a permanent basis. The Principal Electrical Engineer is a senior technical leader responsible for the design, development, and delivery of complex electrical systems and engineering solutions. This role provides technical leadership across projects, mentors engineering teams, and ensures engineering excellence, safety, and compliance with industry standards. The position requires deep expertise in electrical engineering, strong project leadership, and the ability to guide strategic technical decisions across multiple programmes. This is a mix of office, workshop and site‑based environments depending on project needs. Occasional travel to sites, suppliers or client locations may be required.
Key Duties
- Lead the design, development and validation of complex electrical systems and components.
- Act as technical authority, offering guidance and oversight to engineering teams.
- Own electrical architecture, schematics, power distribution, and control system design.
- Produce, review and approve electrical engineering designs, calculations and technical documentation.
- Ensure all solutions meet electrical standards, industry regulations, and safety requirements.
- Support and participate in FMEAs, HAZID, and HAZOP activities.
- Assist with project planning, budgeting, and resource allocation.
- Collaborate closely with mechanical, software and systems teams for integrated solutions.
- Mentor and develop junior and mid‑level engineers.
- Lead design reviews, risk assessments and root‑cause analysis.
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues and provide expert support.
- Contribute to technology strategy, innovation initiatives, and continuous improvement.
- Liaise with clients, suppliers and stakeholders on technical matters.
- Support commissioning, testing and occasional field implementation.
Shift Pattern: Mon-Thurs 07:30am to 4pm and Friday 07:30am to 1pm.
