Bridge Staff Group are recruiting for a Plant Maintenance Fitter to join a busy fleet and transport workshop in Newport. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced mechanical fitter, plant fitter, agricultural engineer or vehicle technician looking for a stable Monday to Friday role with competitive pay and long-term prospects. The role involves maintaining and repairing a wide range of plant, agricultural machinery and powered equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out servicing, repairs and preventative maintenance on plant and equipment.
  • Conduct safety inspections in line with maintenance schedules and legislation.
  • Diagnose faults and identify effective repair solutions.
  • Complete service reports and maintenance records accurately.
  • Assist with breakdown response and emergency repairs.
  • Monitor parts and stock levels within the workshop.
  • Support workshop health and safety requirements.
  • Liaise with suppliers regarding technical issues and warranty claims.
  • Undertake welding and fabrication duties where trained and competent.

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience within plant maintenance, agricultural engineering, vehicle maintenance or a similar mechanical role.
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in vehicle or equipment maintenance preferred.
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Experience working on mechanical, hydraulic, diesel, petrol or electrical systems.
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
  • Full UK driving licence desirable.
