Bridgestaff Group are recruiting highly experienced Structural Steel Fabricators/Welders to join a busy and fast-paced workshop in the Pontypool area. This role requires hands-on, proven experience in structural steel fabrication. Applicants must be confident in their ability to hit the ground running with minimal supervision in a production environment.
The Role
You will be responsible for the fabrication and welding of structural steel components, working directly from detailed engineering drawings within a high-volume workshop. This is a critical hire requiring individuals who can contribute immediately, maintaining high standards of quality, accuracy, and efficiency. Candidates whose experience is primarily thin gauge, pipework, or light fabrication will not be suitable for this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Fabricate structural steel components to precise specifications
- Perform all-position welding using MAG (135/136) and FCAW (Flux-Cored) processes
- Read and interpret complex fabrication and engineering drawings independently
- Measure, mark, cut, and assemble heavy steel sections accurately
- Maintain consistent output within a production-driven environment
- Ensure all work meets strict quality and industry standards
- Work proactively as part of a skilled fabrication team
