Senior Technical Officer - Fleet & Transport

Bridgestaff Group are recruiting for an experienced Senior Technical Officer - Fleet & Transport to support the effective management, compliance, maintenance, and operation of a large and diverse fleet.

This is an excellent opportunity for a transport professional with strong fleet management, compliance, and leadership experience to take ownership of key operational activities whilst supporting the delivery of safe, efficient, and legally compliant transport services.

Shift Pattern

Monday to Friday; 7am to 3pm - flexibility required at times

Key Duties

  • Provide technical leadership in the delivery of fleet management services and workshop operations.
  • Support the day-to-day management of fleet maintenance and transport operations.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant transport, fleet, health and safety, and operator licence legislation.
  • Manage and supervise a team of employees, providing guidance, support, and performance management.
  • Monitor vehicle maintenance programmes, driver compliance, driver hours, tachograph records, and fleet performance.
  • Conduct vehicle inspections, audits, compliance checks, and depot visits.
  • Lead investigations into vehicle incidents, driver infringements, and fleet-related compliance matters.
  • Produce reports, performance data, and management information relating to fleet operations.
  • Manage fleet management systems and databases to ensure accurate record keeping and compliance monitoring.
  • Support procurement activities, vehicle replacement programmes, and fleet improvement projects.
  • Liaise with external stakeholders, suppliers, regulators, and enforcement bodies where required.
  • Assist in budget management and provide detailed fleet costing and operational reports.
  • Support emergency response activities and operational requirements as needed.
  • Deputise for senior management when required.

About you:

  • HND or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline.
  • CPC National Qualification or willingness to work towards one.
  • Supervisory or Management Qualification (Level 3 or above).
  • Knowledge of fuel management systems and workshop operations.
  • Strong knowledge of fleet management and transport legislation.
  • Experience of vehicle operator licence compliance.
  • Knowledge of drivers' hours regulations, working time rules, and tachograph legislation.
  • Experience within fleet, transport, vehicle maintenance, logistics, or a similar environment.
  • Previous supervisory or management experience.
  • Experience of monitoring compliance and producing operational reports.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Experience using fleet management software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • The ability to work independently and make informed decisions.
  • A flexible approach to working hours to support operational requirement
