The Role
The Bridges SEMD team are looking for candidates to fulfill a key Assistant Project Management Role within the team.
The Assistant Project Manager will contribute towards project delivery of upcoming security projects as part of our tier 1 delivery by:
- Promoting and demonstrate the Bridges’ values when dealing with peers, staff, customer and clients
- Working alongside Project Managers in assisting delivery of projects on behalf of Bridges
- Managing small scale projects/work packages, the value and complexity of which will be linked to experience and competence
- Ensuring that projects are delivered on time, on budget and incident free in line with the Bridges Project Management Handbook
- Ensuring that all Health and Safety legislation and regulations are adhered to and promote the positive health and wellbeing of the site teams on their allocated projects
- Managing client expectations and foster positive working relationships to ensure the business’ reputation is maintained
- Providing appropriate and regular feedback to the Project Manager on project performance
- Supporting project reviews and cascade and implement learning and best practice
- Supporting Project Managers in the reporting to the business on project performance
- Liaising closely with the site teams to contribute to the successful delivery of a project
- Being an ambassador for Bridges and support the business goals for obtaining more work
- Key role accountabilities
- Client Relationships
- Assist the Project Managers to ensure close liaison and management of the Client and other stakeholders through ongoing communication and attendance at meetings, promoting Bridges’ capability and maximising opportunities
- To manage the client expectations and change appropriately to ensure all parties are kept informed throughout the lifecycle of the project
- To develop relationships with clients and discuss future opportunities with the aim of securing new work
- Contracts Management
- To ensure projects are delivered in line with contract terms (generally NEC 3)
- To support the management of contractual change in line with agreed terms (ie change of scope and requirements)
- Ensure earning warning and compensation event notifications are issued when applicable
- Assist with the scoping of works to assist the Estimators in pricing and review tenders prior to submission
- Project Governance
- Assist Project Managers with the monthly dashboard reporting structure to update the business on project progress and performance. This may include:
- Programme of works
- RAIDOs – Risks, assumptions, issues, deliverables, opportunities
- Baseline checklists
- Change control
- Assist with the production of and understand the programme of works, risk register and assumptions for baseline at the start of the project.
Ensuring all project documentation is completed and maintained accurately and in line with Bridges requirements and governance procedures
- Creation of the appropriate project documentation, setting success criteria in line with Business objectives. Tracking, managing & updating throughout the project lifecycle
- Escalate issues to the Project Manager as necessary
- Support the Project Manager with Risk Mitigation processes and decisions
- Responsible for updating site documentation and adhering to agreed systems and processes
- Resource Management
- Accept and manage issues escalated from site personnel to ensure all problems are resolved effectively and efficiently
- Management of staff and subcontractors working on assigned projects
- Assess requirements for subcontract resource and to ensure they are bought on board in line with subcontractor contracts and procedures
- Project Planning
- Manage engineering deliverables from internal departments, suppliers and subcontractors
- Briefing site teams and Supervisors ensuring project goals and tasks are understood
- Liaison with all project stakeholders to establish timescales and ensure design deliverables are met in line with the project programme
- Liaison with procurement to ensure effective management of required equipment and materials and that items are delivered on time and to the correct location
- Ensure site activities are carried out in line with project programmes
- Effectively manage the project handover outputs. This would include O&Ms, test certificates, quality plans and completion certificates.
- Finish and close out projects to programme and ensure all close out documentation is completed.
- Financial Accounting
- Control project expenditure in line with project budgets
- Report change events to the Project Manager and Commercial Team
- Assist the Project Manager in the completion of monthly PFRs and project cash flow forecasting
- Ensuring that items are procured at the correct time to ensure each project accounts remain cash neutral
- Assist the Project Manager in the production of detailed activity schedules to enable accurate financial invoices / applications for payment
- Ensure GRNs are submitted to Procurement to enable accurate invoicing and cash flow forecasting
- SHEQ Management
- Production and management of site paperwork including RAMS and project health and safety information
- Conduct monthly site inspections in line with business targets to ensure health and safety compliance
- Produce and maintain ITPs in line with company procedures
- Ensure regular toolbox talks are completed with staff to highlight key safety updates and topics
- Promote near miss and positive intervention reporting
- Ensure staff hold the correct training and qualifications to be able to undertake the tasks required
- Ensure projects are delivered in line with the company essential standards, health and safety rules and all safety procedures and policies
- Ensure projects are delivered in line with the company environmental and quality standards and policies and that any environmental risks are managed and mitigated
- Ensure projects are delivered in line with CDM regulations
- Information Security
To consider information security and remain vigilant when using information systems, and to report any doubts and/or suspicious activity to IT including but not limited to:
- Suspicious unsolicited communications (emails, SMS messages, other digital communications)
- Strange behavior of devices (applications opening unprompted, unexpected cursor or keyboard input)
- Unidentified, unescorted individuals inside non-public areas at Bridges offices
Requirements
Essential
- Full Uk driving licence: Driving to clients sit is part of the role
- Eligibility to work in the UK
- UK resident for over 3 years
Desirable
- Project Experience within water, construction or industrial sectors
- Experience in infrastrucutre, engineering, M&E or security project delivery
- Experience in client engagement
- Experience in working with and managing subconractors, site teams & internal project & commercial teams
- Knowledge of H&S legislation and company procedures
- Experience engaging with prrogramme
- Relevant qualifications in project management, engineering or adjacent discipline
- Willingness to complete a Project Fundamentals Qualification (PFQ)
- Prior security screening/vetting
