37 hours per week. This is an exciting time to join Bridgend CBC as we continue to remodel the way we meet the needs of children who need our support in line with the Welsh Government agenda to end profit in children's residential services in Wales.
Hillsboro House provides care and support for one child/young person between the ages of 8-25 years who due to their complex needs cannot be placed alongside others. Hillsboro will be used as a short-term bridging placement towards a more suitable and stable long-term placement for a young person.
The service is intended to have the ability to become 'dormant' and to become active at short notice if an appropriate child or young person is referred, with changes in the service status being communicated to CIW. This means that the service will be more reactive and can also avoid the alternative option of an Out of County placement.
Hillsboro seeks to offer opportunity for pause and to understand need better in order to assist in a transition for the child or young person into services that are best suited to promote positive change and development.
The service will focus on providing a therapeutic environment to stabilise the child’s/young person’s challenging behaviour, work on improving any risk-taking behaviours, re-connect to education, training or employment where necessary and support the identification of suitable long-term move on placements.
