The Governors of Brynmenyn Primary School wish to appoint an enthusiastic, caring and conscientious learning support officer to work in a highly motivated, friendly teaching team. The successful candidate will provide essential support to pupils and be able to demonstrate this across the primary phase. They should also:

  • Be able to work in close partnership with teaching and other support staff.
  • Have a good knowledge of primary practice in order to contribute to the planning and evaluation of learning activities.
  • Have a good understanding of additional learning needs and promote inclusion.
  • Have a good understanding and management of behavioural needs.
  • Have experience in delivering intervention work for pupils.
  • Be highly motivated and able to work on their own initiative.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Work alongside staff to champion an area of the curriculum.
  • Be dedicated to their own professional development and school improvement.
  • Be able to make a positive contribution to the wider life of school.
  • Be prepared to undertake break and lunch duties.

You will be qualified to at least NVQ Level 3 or equivalent or have good experience of working with children in a school environment. The ability to greet customers through the medium of Welsh is a requirement for this post. Protecting children, young people or adults at risk is a core responsibility of all council employees. An Enhanced with Children's Barred list criminal records check by the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) is a requirement for this post.
