Community Activator – 20 hours per week. Fixed term until 31 March 2026.
This role involves engaging with vulnerable individuals and groups to design bespoke and integrated opportunities that promote wellbeing and community participation. The postholder will work to develop community ownership of activities where appropriate, ensuring that projects are responsive to local needs.
You will support the development and delivery of project-based programmes targeting underrepresented groups, working in partnership with organisations and communities to help service users become more independent. The role will also involve utilising secured external funding to develop new, sustainable community-based physical activity opportunities for children and older people through the recruitment, training, and engagement of community volunteers.
This post is central to supporting the Prevention and Wellbeing agenda in line with the Social Services and Wellbeing (Wales) Act 2014, helping to promote active, connected, and resilient communities across Bridgend.
The ability to greet customers through the medium of Welsh is a requirement for this post.
Protecting children, young people or adults at risk is a core responsibility of all council employees.
An Enhanced Children and Adults Barred list criminal records check by the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) is a requirement for this post.
The council's Hybrid Working Policy applies to this post. This provides a framework for establishing how you will undertake working hours between your home and the office.
