Job description
31 hours per week

We are seeking a suitable candidate to join our bus station team to undertake the role of Bus Station Regulator in support of the delivery of the Councils Public Transport function.

This is an interesting and wide ranging role, where the successful candidate will be responsible for the effective and safe operation of Bridgend Bus Station, whilst providing quality customer service, information and assistance to all users.

The post will ensure the adherence to agreed working practices by bus drivers and ensuring there is no conflict between buses and pedestrians within the confines of the bus station.

The post will also oversee the day-to-day running of the bus station and will have effective oral and written communication and be able to work on your own initiative with the minimum of supervision. You must also be an effective team member.

Working Hours

The working week is 31 hours (averaged) which will normally be worked in line with the shift system in use. However, there may be a requirement to work in excess of these hours to meet to the needs of the service.

A shift system is in operation whereby the Bus Station is open from Monday to Saturday 08:00 to 18:00 and Sunday and Bank Holidays 10:00 to 16:00. As you are required to work weekends, you will be entitled to an enhanced rate of pay. There is a requirement to work within this shift pattern, as determined by your Supervisor or Manager.

Location

The normal place of work will be in Bridgend Bus Station. However, you may be required to work elsewhere within the County Borough. Therefore, a full driving licence and access to motor vehicle is essential.

The ability to greet customers through the medium of Welsh is a requirement for this post.

Protecting children, young people or adults at risk is a core responsibility of all council employees.

A valid driving licence is requirement for this post.

Weekend Working is a requirement for this post.
