As part of the Urban and Rural Grass Cutting Team Bridgend County Borough Council is looking to recruit operatives who will be required to work in a flexible manner, to cater for the needs of the service at any particular time and work some weekends when necessary.
The team provides a visible, responsive, and proactive service focused on improving the appearance, and day-to-day condition of neighbourhoods, town centres, and community spaces across the county borough.
Working from maps and plans to advise colleagues of required cutting routes and operational procedures will be a significant part of the role. Other grounds maintenance activities will include path edging, pruning, clearing vegetation, lifting branches and moss clearance.
The team acts as a place-based service, dealing with environmental issues that have an impact on residents’ perceptions of safety, pride, and wellbeing. It complements existing core services (waste, highways, share regulatory services & enforcement)
The team aims to provides a practical, highly visible “can-do” function, demonstrating the council’s commitment to maintaining, enhancing, and investing in its places.
The ability to greet customers through the medium of Welsh is a requirement for this post.
Protecting children, young people or adults at risk is a core responsibility of all council employees.
A valid driving licence is requirement for this post.
A Health Surveillance assessment through our Occupational Health Service is a requirement for this post
