Ready to make a positive difference to the natural and built environment of Bridgend? Following an internal promotion, a vacancy has arisen for a Planning Technician within the Planning & Development Service. The service encompasses land use and strategic planning, building control and strategic transportation – key statutory services, which through sound placemaking principles collectively make a significant, positive contribution to the social and economic wellbeing of the County Borough of Bridgend.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Checking and registering planning applications
  • Data entry
  • Use of geographical information systems
  • Answering general enquiries
  • Record keeping
  • Day-to-day administration work

Some experience of using computer systems and software packages, as well as working in a busy office environment, is desirable but full training will be provided. Applications from those individuals leaving full-time education are also welcomed. The post is also a gateway role to a future career in town planning or transportation with good advancement opportunities.

The successful candidate will be based at the Civic Offices, Bridgend, although officers are working on a hybrid basis with a flexible amount of agile working.

Protecting children, young people or adults at risk is a core responsibility of all council employees. The council’s Hybrid Working Policy applies to this post.
