Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Strategic and Placements Team, following new investment to strengthen sufficiency and strategic delivery. This role supports the Health and Social Care Act\’s aim of eliminating profit from placements, ensuring resources are used effectively to secure the best outcomes for children and young people.
Role Overview
This operational leadership role will lead and develop the Placement Finder team, providing clear direction and support to ensure the team works in a coordinated, proactive, and strategic way. The postholder will play a key role in shaping placement sufficiency, building effective partnerships, and delivering high‑quality outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the sourcing, commissioning, and ongoing management of placements for children and young people, ensuring activity is efficient, well planned, and aligned with service priorities.
- Support a clear understanding of local placement availability, anticipate upcoming moves, identify emerging placement needs, and address stability issues.
- Lead on robust due diligence, support contract negotiation and cost management, and ensure all placements meet required quality, safeguarding and value‑for‑money.
- Through strong, collaborative relationships with providers and internal partners, secure timely, appropriate, and sustainable placements that achieve positive outcomes for children and young people.
- Protect children, young people or adults at risk, as a core responsibility of all council employees.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Innovative and dynamic leadership skills with a collaborative, supportive approach.
- Open to learning and keen to shape and influence service development.
- Ability to greet customers through the medium of Welsh.
- Enhanced DBS check with Children\’s Barred list requirement.
- Familiarity with the council\’s Hybrid Working Policy.
