Introduction
We are a warm and caring family looking for a dedicated and compassionate Personal Assistant to support our young son, who is autistic and has significant learning difficulties. The ideal candidate will be patient, calm, and enthusiastic about helping a child thrive in a safe and nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing 1:1 support during community outings
- Assisting with communication, using visual supports or other relevant methods
- Supporting sensory, play-based, and learning activities tailored to his needs
- Helping with personal care routines where necessary
- Promoting routine, structure, and a calm environment
- Ensuring safety at all times and responding calmly to challenging situations
Essential Requirements:
- Experience supporting children with autism and/or complex learning needs
- A patient, gentle, and child-centred approach
- Ability to remain calm under pressure
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain)
- Excellent communication skills with both child and family
- Driverβs license and own transport β if applicable
Benefits
5.6 weeks holiday per year (pro rata).
Sick pay at SSP rate if earning Β£120.00 or more per week.
Training provided to support you in your role.
This appointment is subject to an enhanced DBS check, which will incur no cost to the applicant.
