I am currently working with a Top 100 Main Contractor who has been established for many years building a fantastic product. The Group Commercial Director is seeking to bring on board a Commercial Manager to be part of a successful team developing bespoke, high-end properties around the United Kingdom.
The Role
- Balance own work allocation in order to carry out activities in relation to individual schemes within their portfolio of work.
- Deliver hands-on commercial functions for individual schemes in their allocation.
- Lead, manage, and take ownership for decisions in line with the role's level of authority.
- Review and provide authorisation (where appropriate) for payments, orders and other financial matters in accordance with the level of authority set out by the business.
- Request, manage and collate information from team members and colleagues (e.g. Senior Quantity Surveyor) to produce reports and management information as required.
- Set up Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR) from the agreed construction budget.
- Present CVR to Commercial Director for approval, providing additional information and assurance as required.
- Produce procurement schedule in line with current contract programme.
- Manage the procurement process to ensure subcontract packages are placed in a timely manner.
- Manage subcontractor accounts (payments / contract administration / claims & variations / final accounts).
- Manage the reporting process correctly, maintaining accuracy, in line with reporting schedules (CVRs / Expenditure / Cash-flow etc.).
- Pro-actively manage and highlight risks in a timely manner to identify, where possible, savings and efficiencies.
The commercial team is circa 15 employees that consists of estimators, buyers and surveyors of varying levels (assistant to senior) that manage 2-3 live sites at any given time. The role would also suit an established Managing / Senior Quantity Surveyor looking to further their career.
