This is a rare opportunity for a paramedic to join Bridge Road Surgery to help care for our patients within their home. This includes patients that are in a care home setting. The role will be a 12 month fixed term contract to cover maternity leave. Within that time the successful candidate will be supported and trained to continue to develop within their role. The successful candidate will be working with another very experienced prescribing paramedic and an experienced clinical team of GPs and Nurses. Although experience of general practice would be a benefit, for the right candidate, newly qualified paramedics will be considered as will those that have not worked in primary care previously.
Main duties of the job:
- Responsible for attending to patients who wish to be seen by a health care professional within their home (or care home); diagnosing and treating patients presenting with minor illness.
- Seeing and advising people in respect of their continuing medical and nursing needs.
- Prioritising and triaging the needs of patients accordingly, making any necessary referrals for investigations in the appropriate manner.
- Work with reference to practice agreed protocols and guidelines, providing nursing treatments to patients both independently and in participation with nurse colleagues and general practitioners.
