Job description Overview We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Groundsman to join our team at Chiswick. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the upkeep and enhancement of sports grounds to the highest standards. This role requires a combination of mechanical knowledge and a passion for working outdoors. * Experience in sports grounds beneficial but not essential * Training provided to the right candidate * Some weekends working during summer months require to prepare Cricket Key Responsibilities Pitch Preparation Preparing and maintaining playing surfaces to a high standard * Football * Cricket * Rounders * Athletics Maintenance * Mowing, fertilising, seeding, and topdressing grass pitches * Aerating and line marking pitches * Controlling weeds, grass diseases, and pests * Repairing or renovating damaged areas Equipment Operation Operating and maintaining horticultural equipment and machinery, including tractors and mowers. Grounds Upkeep * Maintaining surrounding areas, including outfields, boundary fences, and areas around pavilions * Ensuring the grounds are clean and free of debris * Cleaning and maintaining outdoor furniture and features Seasonal Tasks * Preparing grounds for pre and post-season maintenance * Carrying out seasonal maintenance tasks Other Duties * Planting and maintaining trees, shrubs, plants, and flowers * Applying mulch, pesticides, and other necessary treatments * Unlocking and locking grounds and buildings * Assisting with on-site staff where required The Company uses the Disclosure and Barring service (DBS) to assess applicant’s suitability for positions of trust especially when working in environments such as schools where it is requirement for all contractors have a valid DBS check.
