Bridge McFarland LLP is looking to recruit a Grade B or Grade C Solicitor to join our Clinical Negligence Department based in Hull. Reporting to the Partner, the successful candidate will manage all aspects of their clinical negligence caseload from initial instruction through to settlement or trial. You will handle both pre- and post-litigated matters and deliver a first-class service to clients, maintaining the firm’s reputation for excellence.

Key Duties will include:

  • Ensuring deadlines are regularly updated and monitored.
  • Maintaining accurate file management and meeting compliance requirements.
  • Liaising with clients professionally and sensitively, keeping them updated on case progress.
  • Managing expectations of clients, counsel, experts, and third parties.
  • Attending meetings, conferences, and court hearings as required.
  • Preparing legal documents, statements, and instructions to counsel and experts.
  • Reviewing and analysing medical records and other essential evidence.
  • Drafting schedules of loss and other key documents.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across the department.
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of clinical negligence law and procedures.
  • Providing supervision and guidance to junior colleagues when required.
  • Engaging proactively in business development and networking opportunities.
  • Ensuring all case management system entries are kept accurate and up to date.
  • Contributing to departmental targets and firmwide objectives.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

  • Qualified Solicitor ideally with 2-5 years PQE in clinical negligence.
  • Strong understanding of clinical negligence litigation.
  • Excellent communication and client-care skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.

Desirable Skills

  • Track record of successful settlements.
  • Experience managing your own caseload.
  • Previous involvement in business development activities.

This is a permanent position based at our Hull Office.
