Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Activity Assistant to join our team in providing enriching experiences for residents in our care home. The ideal candidate will have a passion for senior care, particularly in supporting individuals with dementia and other cognitive impairments. This role is essential in fostering a vibrant community atmosphere and enhancing the quality of life for our residents through engaging activities.

Duties

  • Assist in planning, organising, and implementing a variety of recreational and therapeutic activities tailored to the interests and needs of residents.
  • Facilitate group and individual activities, ensuring participation from all residents, including those with mobility or cognitive challenges.
  • Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff to encourage participation and gather feedback on activities.
  • Provide support during activities, ensuring a safe environment while promoting independence among residents.
  • Document participation and progress of residents in activities, reporting any significant observations to the care team.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff to integrate activity plans with individual care plans for residents.
  • Maintain an organised inventory of supplies needed for activities and assist in the preparation of materials.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a care setting such as a nursing home, assisted living facility, or similar environment is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively engage with seniors and their families.
  • A genuine interest in senior care, particularly those living with dementia or other cognitive impairments.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also being self-motivated.
