Bridge Cheese is seeking a flexible and detail-oriented Factory Quality Assurance (QA) Operative to join our team in Telford, Shropshire. This role primarily involves covering Line QA and Lab QA roles during staff holidays/sickness etc. When not covering shifts, you will work office hours to support quality assurance tasks. Additionally, the role includes assisting the Technical Manager during audits and customer visits, and contributing to the Internal Audit Team.

Hours: Floating role for holiday and shift cover. Shifts: 6am-2pm & 2pm-10pm. Flexible office hours when not providing cover: (guide 50% cover 50% office hours)

Key Responsibilities

  • Holiday & Shift Cover: Provide cover for Line QA and Lab QA roles during holiday and shift absences (6am-2pm & 2pm-10pm).
  • Line QA Role: Perform Critical Control Point (CCP) checks and finished product checks every 30 minutes. Aseptic product sampling for microbiological and organoleptic testing.
  • Lab QA Role: Test and record finished products (e.g., cook, moisture, and grate) and raw materials (e.g., cook quality). Oversee and organise microbiological testing and retests.
  • Support for Technical Manager: Assist during audits and customer visits.
  • Internal Audit Team: Participate in internal audits to ensure compliance with quality and food safety standards.
  • Office Hours (When Not Covering): Able to work flexible office hours when not providing cover to assist with quality assurance tasks and administrative duties. (guide 9am-5pm)

Education & Training: L2 Food Safety qualification is desirable. Previous experience in a food manufacturing environment is preferred.

Knowledge & Experience: Experience in a similar QA role within a food manufacturing environment.

Skills & Abilities: Strong verbal and written English communication skills. Attention to detail and excellent organisation skills. Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Self-managed and comfortable making decisions to achieve goals. Willingness to support colleagues and the business when required.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £13.52 per hour

Expected hours: 37.5 per week
