About the role: Are you passionate about supporting young people to thrive in school and beyond? Do you have the drive, resilience, and expertise to lead proactive pastoral care that makes a real difference? Notley High School is seeking to appoint an outstanding Pastoral Manager to join our committed and caring pastoral team. This is a key role in our school, responsible for ensuring high standards of student wellbeing, attendance, behaviour, and engagement. You will work closely with our Raising Standards Leaders and other key staff to ensure all students feel safe, supported, and empowered to succeed.

Key aspects of the role include:

  • Acting as a highly visible and approachable presence around school, promoting high standards of behaviour and conduct
  • Building strong, supportive relationships with students and their families
  • Monitoring and improving attendance, including first-day calls and regular home visits
  • Delivering or coordinating targeted interventions to support students with emotional and behavioural needs (e.g. anger management, anxiety support)
  • Working closely with external agencies and leading on multi-agency meetings (e.g. Early Help, TAF)
  • Upholding safeguarding procedures and supporting vulnerable learners

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is experienced in pastoral or youth work, particularly in an educational setting
  • Has the emotional intelligence and professional confidence to work with vulnerable and challenging students
  • Can lead structured interventions around behaviour and mental wellbeing
  • Is resilient, calm under pressure, and able to manage difficult conversations
