MGF is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to join its Temporary Works Engineering department in Livingston, Scotland.

The successful candidate will specialize in temporary works design, working within an engineering team responsible for their own projects.

You will use your industry experience to support MGF\’s engineering team with complex structural support schemes, including modular hire fleet, bespoke steel, timber, and concrete structures.

As a Senior Engineer, you will manage and oversee daily design workloads, collaborate with Regional Sales Managers, provide technical guidance to sales and internal design teams, and support department efficiency, training, recruitment, and bespoke projects.

Examples of schemes include:

  • Temporary & permanent excavation support (CAT 2/3)
  • Needling & propping of buildings
  • Dead shores/back propping
  • Façade retention
  • Temporary bridge jacking
  • Crash decks
  • Internal plan bracing
  • Masonry bridge arch propping

Your key responsibilities include managing design workload, producing and checking designs/drawings, training staff, and providing technical support to sales and customers.

The core requirements are a thorough understanding of structural behavior, CDM 2015, geotechnical principles, experience in designing steel, concrete, timber structures, and familiarity with retaining wall design software (CADS Piled Wall Suite, WALLAP) and Autodesk Revit.

The ideal candidate should be near or have achieved IEng recognition with ICE/IStructE and be eager to complete their professional qualifications.
