Movement & Voice Practitioner Wanted (Chekhov based)
Join the faculty at Brian Timoney Actors Studio.
We’re seeking a movement and voice practitioner with strong grounding in Michael Chekhov technique to join our London-based teaching team on a freelance basis.
1 weekend/month (Sat & Sun, 10am–5pm)
£40/hour (freelance)
In-person – London studio (Zone 1/2)
Our students are new aspiring adult actors — many entering the profession later in life — training in a highly immersive, emotionally truthful actor development system.
We’re looking for someone who can:
- Deliver movement rooted in Chekhov’s tools (Psychological Gesture, Qualities of Movement, Imaginary Body)
- Integrate voice work that is physical and experiential (Linklater, Houseman, or somatic-based)
- Collaborate creatively — we use Chekhov adaptively, not rigidly
- Work confidently with emotionally open beginner actors
Ideal background includes :
✔ Training in Chekhov technique
✔ Experience teaching expressive movement and/or physical voice
✔ Somatic movement practices (e.g. yoga, feldenkrais, movement meditation)
✔ A passion for actor development and a collaborative mindset
