Brian McCance (Steel) Ltd. is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Warehouse Manager to oversee our warehouse operations. Working alongside the General Manager, the Warehouse Manager will be responsible for managing the efficient receipt, storage and distribution of materials and products within our facility, and the dispatch of various steel products for delivery to customers throughout Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. This position requires excellent organisational and leadership skills, as well as a strong understanding of warehouse operations and inventory management.
Responsibilities
- Manage warehouse staff, including saw operators, yard labourers and drivers
- In conjunction with the General Manager, develop and implement warehouse operational procedures and policies to ensure smooth and efficient operations
- Coordinate with other departments to plan and prioritise daily activities, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of materials and products
- Monitor inventory levels and ensure proper stock rotation to minimise waste and maximise efficiency
- Supervise and assist with the loading and unloading of delivery vehicles and orders being processed for delivery
- Supervise and assist with the movement of stock either by hand, using lifting equipment or a forklift truck
- Build and strap steel into safe bales for delivery
- Oversee the maintenance and organisation of the warehouse and yard, ensuring a clean and safe working environment, including the storage of stock
- Implement and enforce health and safety regulations and procedures within the warehouse and yard
- Identify process improvements and, subject to agreement with management, implement strategies to increase productivity and efficiency
- Carry out general warehouse duties and any other duties as required
Qualifications and Skills
- Forklift truck licence desirable
- Full driving licence desirable
- Strong knowledge of warehouse operations
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and supervise a team
- Good team player
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations and procedures in a warehouse setting
- Willingness to undertake any internal/external training required
Experience
- Proven experience as a Warehouse Manager, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Experience of manual handling
- Excellent timekeeping and attendance record
