We have an exciting opportunity for a Category Management Assistant to join our Category & Buying team. This essential role plays a vital part in shaping the future of category management & buying, supporting the business as we grow. Responsibilities
- Supporting category strategy through financial analysis on pricing, margins, terms and promotions
- Preparing and monitoring promotional activity, product data and SKU files
- Assisting with product range reviews and new product introductions
- Acting as a key point of contact for branches and internal teams, providing pricing, product and supplier information
- Supporting supplier onboarding, negotiations and commercial discussions
- Raising and tracking bulk purchases, reconciling invoices and supporting Finance with accurate reporting
- Monitoring competitor activity and maintaining strong product and market awareness
- Supporting helpdesk and branch queries, including recalls and product quality matters
- Providing high quality administrative support to the Category & Buying team
Qualifications
- Experience in an administrative role within a commercial, buying or purchasing environment
- Strong Excel experience with the ability to produce accurate reports and spreadsheets
- Experience supporting pricing, costing, margins or financial analysis
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a professional and discreet approach
- Analytical and methodical thinker with an aptitude for working with figures and data
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines and work methodically
- Confident and quick to learn new business systems such as Phocas and K8
- Confident IT skills in particular with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook to an intermediate level
- A forward thinker with the ability to multitask effectively and work to deadlines
- Keen to learn and develop skills
