About the role

This market leading Corporate Tax Disputes Team currently consists of 20 tax dispute specialists, specialising in corporate tax. They act for large and high-profile clients across all sectors.

This experienced team provides clients with a full tax disputes service, from considering clients’ tax governance and processes and proactive engagement with HMRC, to assisting with complex tax enquiries, including HRCP and the PDCF, negotiating matters with HMRC and reaching settlements of these. The team offers you excellent further training and career progression opportunities in a dynamic and exciting environment. They are looking for an experienced Tax Disputes Manager, with experience gained through professional practice or as a former tax inspector, to join their London office.

What your days will look like

  • Collaborate with national Tax Dispute specialists and the broader tax team on various advisory projects.
  • Assist clients in managing their tax governance and interactions with HMRC and international fiscal authorities.
  • Take ownership of projects, directly interact with clients, and explore their business issues and potential needs.
  • Work under the guidance of Senior Managers, Directors, and Partners to provide clients with advice on available options.
  • Engage in business development activities with a view to winning new projects and assignments.
  • Support clients in resolving complex and high-value disputes with tax authorities.
  • Work alongside some of the UK’s leading experts in the field.
  • Demonstrate deep knowledge of HMRC’s compliance powers as well as tax administration law and practice.
  • Utilize experience in engaging with HMRC to achieve resolution of disputes.

This role is for you if

  • Experience of dealing with HMRC enquiries/investigations.
  • Experience of working with large corporate clients.
  • Knowledge of HMRC structure, policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of key tax administration legislation, covering the following: Information powers, Penalties, Assessments, Enquiries, Senior Accounting Officer regime.
  • Project management skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Interpersonal and team working skills.
  • Demonstrable relationship building skills.
  • Qualifications: ACA/CTA/HMRC inspector training.
