Responsibilities

  • Oversee indirect tax and customs compliance across multiple jurisdictions, including review of VAT returns and related filings
  • Support business stakeholders on indirect tax implications of transactions, projects and new initiatives
  • Contribute to strategic activity such as M&A, restructurings and systems implementations
  • Manage interactions with tax authorities and support on audits or enquiries
  • Strengthen governance, controls and risk management frameworks within indirect tax
  • Identify and implement process improvements, including opportunities for automation and better use of technology
  • Partner with teams across finance, operations and IT to ensure indirect tax is effectively embedded within business processes

Requirements

  • Relevant accounting or tax qualification
  • Strong experience in indirect tax, ideally within a multinational or large corporate environment
  • Solid technical knowledge of VAT, particularly UK and European regimes; wider international exposure is beneficial
  • Experience managing compliance processes and reviewing filings across multiple entities
  • Exposure to advisory work, including supporting projects, transactions or tax disputes
  • Proven ability to improve processes and implement controls within a tax or finance function
  • Experience working with ERP systems and tax technology tools; familiarity with data/automation tools is advantageous
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and build relationships across different functions and regions
  • Organised, analytical and able to balance day-to-day delivery with longer-term improvements
