The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Business Tax Manager to join a specialist Property Tax team. This is a client-facing role offering a mix of compliance and advisory work, with significant scope to contribute to complex property-related tax projects. You will play a key role in managing client relationships, delivering high-quality technical work, and mentoring junior members of the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing the corporation tax compliance for a portfolio of property clients, including standalone companies and complex group structures.
- Reviewing corporation tax computations and returns prepared by junior staff, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
- Proactively identifying and implementing tax-efficient solutions for clients.
- Providing property-focused tax advisory services, including structuring advice (e.g. companies, LLPs), group reorganisations and restructures, group tax planning, corporate interest restriction, withholding taxes, property acquisitions and disposals, tax due diligence for transactions.
- Managing billing processes and monitoring work in progress.
- Line managing and developing junior staff through coaching, feedback and the appraisal process.
- Contributing to business development initiatives, including involvement in the firm’s property sector group and attending networking events.
Candidate Profile
- Proven experience managing a portfolio of corporate tax clients, ideally within the property sector.
- Strong technical knowledge of UK corporation tax.
- CTA qualification (or equivalent) preferred.
- Confident working autonomously while also contributing effectively within a team.
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate.
- A proactive mindset with the creativity to identify tax opportunities and risks.
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook; familiarity with AlphaTax is advantageous.
