We are looking for an ambitious Associate Director or Director to join a high‑performing International & Transaction Tax team in Reading. This is a rare opportunity to enjoy the best of both worlds:

  • A close‑knit, agile team where you’ll work directly with Partners and clients
  • Exposure to major brands, cross‑border transactions and high‑profile deals
  • Progression and visibility that larger city teams often can’t offer

If you want bigger work, greater influence, and faster career momentum—this is the role.

About the role

You will lead and deliver complex, high‑value advisory work across:

  • International tax planning
  • Corporate reorganisations and cross‑border structuring
  • M&A transactions (buy side, sell side, carve-outs, integrations)
  • Private equity – fund structures, portfolio company support, exit readiness
  • TMT, consumer products, and manufacturing clients across UK, EU and global markets

The client base includes recognisable brands, fast‑growth tech companies and private equity‑backed businesses—meaning no two days look alike.

What makes this role different

  • A small, senior-led team where you won’t get lost in the hierarchy
  • Direct access to Partners on every engagement
  • Front‑line client exposure from day one
  • Major, complex work typically associated with London teams
  • Genuine influence and commercial ownership over deals and relationships
  • Accelerated progression due to visibility, stretch work and client contact

If you’re looking for something more entrepreneurial, more impactful and more connected—this is it.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead advisory projects on cross‑border tax planning, restructures and transactions
  • Deliver deal-focused tax advice that supports commercial and strategic outcomes
  • Work closely with clients, Partners, lawyers, banks and PE funds on live deal activity
  • Translate complex technical matters into clear, actionable recommendations
  • Spot opportunities to add value and drive business development
  • Mentor, coach and develop junior colleagues in the team

About you

We are looking for someone who is technically strong and commercially sharp. Experience and attributes we value:

  • ACA or CTA qualified
  • Strong experience in international tax, transaction tax or M&A advisory
  • Confident delivering advice in high‑pressure, deal-driven environments
  • Ability to translate technical points into outcomes that matter to investors, boards and management teams
  • Commercial judgement, curiosity and the ability to “join the dots”
  • Comfortable working in an agile, collaborative team with Partner exposure
  • A self‑starter who enjoys autonomy, responsibility and building strong client relationships

If you thrive when things move fast and you want space to shape your role and your future, you’ll fit right in.

What is on offer

  • Competitive salary and benefits
  • Hybrid working
  • Exposure to international clients and major cross‑border deals
  • A clear pathway to progression, with Partner visibility and sponsorship
  • A supportive culture focused on growth, autonomy and impact
