We are recruiting a VAT Accountant to take ownership of VAT compliance across the UK and overseas operations. This is a hands‑on role within a lean, fast‑moving finance environment, requiring someone who can operate at pace while also engaging confidently with the wider business. The role will suit a technically strong VAT professional who can hit the ground running but is equally comfortable partnering with non‑tax stakeholders, explaining VAT issues in practical terms and helping the business make informed commercial decisions as it scales.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of VAT compliance across UK and international operations
- Prepare, review and submit VAT filings across multiple jurisdictions
- Manage VAT‑related deadlines and ongoing compliance obligations
- Support VAT accounting, reconciliations and close processes
- Provide VAT input on cross‑border activity, including goods, services and supply chains
- Work with internal teams and external advisers on VAT and customs matters
- Help embed VAT compliance into business processes as the organisation grows
- Contribute to the development of scalable VAT processes, controls and documentation
Requirements
- Several years’ experience in VAT or indirect tax, covering UK and international compliance
- Relevant professional qualification (ACA, CTA, ATT, or equivalent)
- Strong grounding in UK VAT and a working understanding of international VAT principles
- Experience operating in fast‑paced, international or complex business environments
- Ability to apply technical VAT knowledge in a commercial context
- Confident communicating VAT issues to non‑tax stakeholders
- Comfortable partnering with finance, operational teams and external advisers
- Adaptable, pragmatic and able to work effectively in a changing environment
The role offers broad international exposure, genuine ownership and the opportunity to influence how VAT compliance operates as the business continues to scale. The remuneration package is competitive and aligned with the level of responsibility and impact.
