The Role

An opportunity has arisen for a Personal Tax Manager to join a growing private client team. This role offers a mix of complex compliance and advisory work, making it ideal for a commercially focused tax professional looking to broaden their impact.

You will manage a varied portfolio including ultra and high net worth individuals, entrepreneurs, private equity professionals, families, trusts, and internationally mobile clients. The position also provides the chance to work closely with other tax teams on wider advisory projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a complex portfolio of personal tax clients, taking full ownership of assignments
  • Provide technical expertise across income tax, CGT, inheritance tax, and residence matters
  • Oversee compliance processes, including the preparation and review of complex personal tax returns
  • Contribute to advisory and consultancy projects, both independently and alongside other tax teams
  • Support on specialist areas such as EIS/SEIS, EMI, employment-related securities, and P11Ds
  • Act as a key point of contact for clients, maintaining strong relationships and delivering a high standard of service
  • Liaise with HMRC and third parties on a range of tax matters
  • Mentor and support junior team members, contributing to their technical development
  • Conduct technical research and provide internal guidance across the wider firm

Candidate Profile

  • CTA qualified (or equivalent) with a strong academic background
  • Proven experience in personal tax within a professional services environment
  • Strong technical knowledge across personal and business tax matters
  • Track record of managing complex compliance and involvement in advisory work
  • Commercially aware with a proactive, problem-solving mindset
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships internally and externally
  • A collaborative team player with experience supporting and developing junior staff
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail and communication skills
