The Role
An opportunity has arisen for a Personal Tax Assistant Manager to join a growing private client team. This role offers a strong grounding in both compliance and advisory work, making it ideal for a technically strong tax professional looking to step up their responsibility and exposure.
You will work with a varied portfolio including high net worth individuals, entrepreneurs, families, trusts, and internationally mobile clients, while supporting senior team members on more complex advisory projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of personal tax clients, taking responsibility for day-to-day delivery
- Prepare and review personal tax returns, ensuring accuracy and timeliness across compliance cycles
- Support on advisory projects across income tax, CGT, inheritance tax, and residence matters
- Assist with specialist areas such as EIS/SEIS, EMI, employment-related securities, and P11Ds
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a key point of contact on day-to-day matters
- Liaise with HMRC and third parties on behalf of clients
- Work closely with Managers and Partners on more complex assignments and planning work
- Support and delegate work to junior team members, assisting in their development
- Undertake technical research and contribute to internal knowledge sharing
Candidate Profile
- CTA qualified (or equivalent)
- Strong experience in personal tax within a professional services environment
- Good technical grounding across personal tax, with exposure to advisory work
- Experience managing compliance processes for HNW/UHNW clients
- Confident communicator with strong client-facing skills
- Organised and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
- A proactive and collaborative team player, keen to develop and progress
- Experience supporting and reviewing junior staff is advantageous
