A fast-growing renewable energy business based in London is looking for an experienced Accounts Payable Operations Manager to oversee accounts payable, treasury support, and procurement processes whilst the current manager is seconded on a project. This hands-on role involves leading a team of Accounts Payable Assistants and managing end-to-end payment operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong operational background and a continuous improvement mindset, ready to make an impact in a dynamic and purpose-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily accounts payable activities and ensure timely, accurate processing of invoices and payments.
  • Review and authorise high volumes of manual payments across various e-banking platforms and treasury management systems.
  • Enforce strict compliance with internal payment policies and delegation of authority controls.
  • Act as the primary finance contact for invoice and payment queries across internal teams and suppliers.
  • Lead and mentor a team of Accounts Payable Assistants, fostering a culture of accuracy, ownership, and development.
  • Liaise with outsourced service providers to support timely month-end bookkeeping and reporting.
  • Identify inefficiencies across P2P (Purchase to Pay) and I2P (Invoice to Pay) processes, drive automation and process improvements.
  • Support ongoing projects where possible.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Relevant degree/qualifications.
  • Similar role held within the renewable energy sector.
  • Proven experience managing or supervising a finance team in a high-volume environment.
  • Strong knowledge of P2P and I2P processes, payment operations, and ERP systems.
  • Experience with online banking platforms and treasury operations.
  • Solid understanding of core accounting principles.
  • Experience with Sage X3 and treasury systems (ideally FIS Integrity) - highly advantageous.

Candidates with proven ability to manage teams in a demanding and high-volume environment are preferred and should be available at short notice.
