I’m partnering with a global business that is currently strengthening its tax capability. As part of this growth, my client has created a new VAT Manager role. This position sits at the centre of VAT advisory, stakeholder engagement and process development across EMEA, with exposure to both day-to-day technical matters and longer-term automation and change projects. The role reports into the Head of Global Indirect Tax, based in London, and will work closely with both UK and international teams.
Responsibilities
- Act as a regional VAT point of contact across EMEA, covering a broad range of indirect tax matters
- Advise on VAT implications of new services, business changes and operating or billing models
- Collaborate with finance, legal, treasury, compliance and shared services teams on regional initiatives
- Monitor VAT legislative developments and communicate relevant impacts internally
- Support VAT audits, enquiries and interaction with tax authorities, working alongside external advisers where required
- Contribute to VAT compliance, reporting and process improvement activity across the group
- Support ERP‑related VAT work, including testing, reconciliations and ongoing optimisation
- Assist with internal controls, documentation, guidance and training materials
- Play a role in VAT automation, digitalisation and centralisation projects across EMEA
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years experience in indirect tax advisory, gained in practice and/or in‑house
- Exposure to international VAT and working within large, complex organisations
- Experience engaging with ERP systems (SAP, D365, etc.) and automated VAT reporting environments
- Confident communicator, able to explain VAT issues clearly to non‑specialists
- Commercially aware with a practical approach to problem‑solving
- Comfortable working autonomously in a fast‑paced, evolving environment
- Interest in systems, process improvement and transformation alongside technical tax
- Additional European language skills are advantageous but not essential
