The private client practice advises high-net-worth individuals, families, trustees and related structures on a wide range of tax, fiduciary and advisory matters. The Tax & Accounting team plays a key role in delivering this offering, with responsibility for:

  • Personal tax compliance for UK and international clients
  • Trust administration and tax reporting
  • Regulatory reporting and interaction with tax authorities
  • Supporting wider advisory work across private client matters

The team works with a diverse client base including entrepreneurs, senior executives and globally mobile individuals with complex financial affairs.

This is a leadership role with responsibility for managing the personal tax and trust accounting function, including supervision of a small specialist team. The successful candidate will take ownership of a mixed portfolio of private clients and play a critical role in supporting broader advisory work across the practice. The position offers a high degree of autonomy, with direct interaction with senior stakeholders and involvement in complex, high-value client matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading the personal tax compliance function, including oversight of annual reporting cycles
  • Managing a portfolio of UK and international private clients
  • Advising on complex technical matters, including:
    • Statutory residence and domicile
    • Remittance basis and international tax considerations
    • Estate and inheritance tax matters
  • Overseeing trust accounting and tax compliance, including:
    • Periodic and exit charge reporting
    • Capital gains tax considerations
    • Trust registrations and ongoing regulatory obligations
  • Supervising and supporting trust and tax team members, providing technical guidance and oversight
  • Managing interactions with tax authorities, including enquiries, investigations and disclosures
  • Overseeing international reporting requirements (e.g. AEOI frameworks)
  • Providing technical input to support legal/advisory colleagues on complex client matters
  • Delivering bespoke tax and accounting support on ad hoc projects

Candidate Profile

  • Professionally qualified (e.g. ACA, CTA, STEP or equivalent)
  • Extensive experience in personal tax compliance
  • Strong technical knowledge of UK tax, with exposure to trusts and fiduciary structures
  • Experience advising high-net-worth and/or internationally mobile clients
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a team and oversee complex workflows
