I am partnering with a fast-paced international business to find a strategic customs expert for a newly created global role. This is a fantastic opportunity to shape processes, influence senior stakeholders, and make a real commercial impact.

The position sits within the tax function and reports directly to the Head of Tax, with exposure to the C-suite. The remit is global, with a particular focus on EMEA and the US. The successful candidate will be the go-to person for customs matters.

This is a highly visible role, requiring someone pragmatic, articulate, and confident in decision-making. You’ll be partnering closely with supply chain, finance, procurement, and commercial teams to ensure compliance, manage risk, and identify opportunities for optimisation.

Responsibilities

  • Own global governance and controls for customs and indirect tax compliance
  • Advise on regulatory changes and assess impact on operations and risk
  • Partner with supply chain, finance, procurement, and commercial teams to shape tax-efficient business decisions
  • Lead audits and compliance reviews; manage risk and engage with authorities as needed
  • Oversee customs brokers, tax advisors, and third-party providers to ensure quality and compliance
  • Identify opportunities to reduce duty and tax costs
  • Support strategic projects including market entry, product launches, and supply chain redesign
  • Drive implementation of technology solutions for trade compliance and indirect tax oversight
  • Deliver training and build awareness of compliance risks and value opportunities across the business

Requirements

  • Subject matter expert in global customs; indirect tax knowledge is a plus
