Brewer Morris has been exclusively retained to source a Chief Financial Officer in a highly commercial leadership role for a high‑growth real estate investment manager. The organisation is dynamic, entrepreneurial, and well‑capitalised, investing both private and institutional capital. The firm has experienced significant growth in recent years and requires a commercially focused CFO to assist the business as they go onto the next phase of their growth journey. The business is largely focused on UK investments but is agnostic around its asset focus within real estate, holding assets in multiple different sectors.
The role requires someone to be a strategic leader, on the board of the firm, to spearhead the finance function of more than 20 headcount, and to be active in debt markets and debt structuring as the firm continues its growth and expansion. The role offers highly competitive compensation, a strong benefits package, and requires four days per week in the London office. The successful individual will currently be either in a CFO role, number 2 to the CFO, or coming from a financing/capital markets role.
Key Responsibilities- Partner with the CEO and Board to drive business performance and long‑term strategy.
- Contribute to investment decisions and commercial strategy at Board and Investment Committee level.
- Manage lender relationships and oversee all debt facilities.
- Lead financial due diligence, structuring, and debt origination for real estate transactions.
- Lead and set the strategic focus for direct reports across fund finance, group finance, and property finance.
- Oversee financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and KPI development.
- Ensure robust financial controls and compliance, including FCA-related requirements.
- Oversee audit, tax, and compliance activities.
- Identify and lead system and technology implementations.
- Develop, mentor, and grow high‑performing finance teams.
- Drive finance transformation through technology, automation, and AI.
- Maintain strong relationships with investors and lenders.
- Ensure timely, accurate, and high‑quality reporting to all stakeholders.
- Qualified Chartered Accountant (preferred) – or an investment professional from IB or similar background, ready to transition into a CFO role.
- Proven CFO currently working in a Real Estate Fund or experienced finance professional with considerable capital markets experience.
- Strong understanding of regulated environments and institutional capital.
- Experience within an FCA‑regulated investment management business (SMF3).
- Demonstrated success in debt transactions, structuring, and financial leadership, with a strong lender network.
- Experience in finance transformation, systems implementation, and team development.
- Commercially astute, entrepreneurial, and comfortable operating at both strategic and hands‑on operational levels.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence at Board level.
- Experience with private equity or fund management structures.
- Track record of delivering operational efficiencies through technology.
- Exposure to complex stakeholder environments including family offices and institutional investors.
