A leading international organisation is seeking an experienced Head of Employment Tax to join its in-house tax function. This is a rare opportunity to take ownership of employment tax strategy across a complex global business, partnering with senior stakeholders to shape policy, manage risk, and support a growing international workforce. Reporting to the Global Tax Director, you will lead on all UK and international employment tax matters, overseeing employment status, global mobility, payroll tax compliance, employee benefits, and reporting obligations. You will also manage a specialist Employment Tax Manager and work closely with HR, Reward, Payroll, Legal, and Finance teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the organisation’s employment tax strategy and governance framework.
- Oversee employment status assessments, including off‑payroll working considerations and contractor reviews.
- Provide expert guidance on international mobility, cross‑border working, overseas assignments, and related tax risks.
- Partner with senior stakeholders to develop policies, processes, and controls that ensure ongoing compliance.
- Monitor legislative and case law developments, translating complex tax changes into practical business solutions.
- Oversee key compliance obligations, including PSA, P11D reporting, employee benefits taxation, and international reporting requirements.
- Manage external advisers where specialist support is required.
- Deliver education and awareness programmes to stakeholders across the business.
About You
You will be a recognised employment tax and/or global mobility tax specialist with the credibility to influence at all levels of a large, internationally focused organisation. A proactive attitude, commercial mindset and ability to interact with multiple stakeholders will also be key. In‑house experience would be advantageous but is not a deal breaker. Applicants looking for a full‑time or part‑time (0.8 FTE+) will be considered and hybrid working is available.
